Karen Wells was born and raised in Lexington, Kentucky. She completed her Physical Therapy degree at the University of Kentucky in 1994. Karen was vice president of her Physical Therapy class. She worked at the University of Kentucky Medical Center while in school and treated both inpatients and outpatients to include the athletes attending the university.
Karen’s initial employment was at Providence Hospital in a rotating position through acute care, rehabilitation, skilled nursing and outpatient department unit. Karen moved to College Station, Texas in 1997 after getting married. She worked in an orthopedics setting treating a wide variety of diagnosis. She was promoted to Assistant Director of Rehabilitation Services but decided to step down to return to school to earn her advanced degree. She received her Masters in Kinesiology with the focus on exercise physiology in 2000 from Texas A&M University.
Karen relocated to Columbus and worked for 1 year in a clinic that treated the “weekend warrior”, chronic pain patients and the general orthopedic patient. She returned to the area in 2001 and started working with the Cincinnati Sportsmedicine and Orthopaedic group. She has advanced training with the treatment of the spine, work hardening, work conditioning, Functional Capacity Evaluations, manual techniques and core stability training. Karen’s focus is rehabilitating a patient back to a high level of function incorporating the entire body in the rehabilitation program.
Karen enjoys spending time with family and friends. She volunteers with various community activities and school related activities. She enjoys the outdoors and playing sports with her husband and kids. She continues to find creative ways to remain physically fit while caring for her young children.
She is licensed in Ohio and Kentucky.
