Elizabeth Butcher is a licensed physical therapist in Kentucky and Ohio specializing in the treatment of orthopaedic injuries. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree and Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. She is a first-generation college graduate in her family. She participated in four clinicals including outpatient orthopaedics, acute care and outpatient neuro which specialized in vestibular rehabilitation.
As an undergraduate, she was able to participate in the McNair Scholars Program which helps first-generation, low-income and minority students participate in research with a mentor. In this program, she conducted research on the muscle-tendon relationship using ultrasonography, EMG and electrogoniometry. She continued this research in graduate school and presented it at the American College of Sports Medicine annual meeting.
After graduation, Elizabeth worked for an outpatient orthopaedic group specializing in the treatment of orthopaedic conditions. She obtained two years of experience before joining Cincinnati SportsMedicine and Orthopaedic Center in 2011.
Elizabeth currently resides in Burlington, KY and lives with her husband, Patrick. She has a dog named Luke and two cats named Leia and Padme’ which are all named after Star Wars characters. She enjoys spending time with her husband and friends, reading and participating in an occasional Zumba class.
